What to expect after your lawn renovation...
After a lawn renovation, your lawn will look a little different, and that's normal! The process often leaves the surface looking slightly patchy or bare at first. Underneath though, it's setting the stage for a much stronger, greener lawn.
Day 1 - 7
You'll see freshly scarified soil and visible seed. The area may look uneven, but don't worry! This is exactly what we want at this stage. This is the beginnings of your brand new lawn!
Weeks 2 - 3
Small green shoots will begin to appear! 🌱
The lawn will start to take on a light fuzz of new growth.
Weeks 3 - 5
The grass thickens and colour deepens. With watering and care, it will start to look fuller and healthier. Careful mowing can begin.
Months 2-3
The lawn matures. You can gradually resume normal mowing and light use.
Lawn Renovation Aftercare: helping your new lawn establish...
Your renovation sets the foundation, but the success comes from how it's cared for afterwards.

AFTERCARE
Watering
• Keep the soil surface lightly moist during germination (2-4 weeks).
• Water gently to avoid washing away seed.
• Gradually reduce watering as roots develop and growth strengthens.
✂️
Mowing
• Wait until the grass reaches around 3-5 cm before the first cut (usually around 3-4 weeks).
• Use a sharp mower blade and take only the top third off.
• Gradually lower the height over several cuts as the lawn thickens.
🚫
Foot Traffic
• Try to keep off the lawn for the first few weeks to prevent damage to delicate seedlings.
• If access is needed, use planks or boards to spread weight.
🌱
Feeding
• After the first few weeks, once the seedlings are well established, a balanced feed can be applied.
• From then, your regular treatment plan will ensure the lawn is receiving the nutrients it needs to thrive.
Frequently Asked Questions
WHEN WILL MY LAWN LOOK IT'S BEST?
You'll notice improvement within a few weeks, but the lawn will really start to shine after 2-3 months of steady growth and care.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS DRY OR COLD?
Don't worry. We'll always time renovations around the best chance for great conditions. If there's a dry spell, keep up with light watering until the rainfall returns.
WHEN CAN I MOW MY LAWN AFTER RENOVATION?
Wait until the grass reaches around 3-5 cm. Usually around the 3-4 week mark.
THE LAWN IS PATCHY AFTER RENOVATION WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Don't panic, this is completely normal! After a renovation, new grass doesn't always grow evenly at first. Germination can vary depending on soil temperature, moisture and sunlight and some seedlings may take longer than others to sprout. Keep up with light, regular watering. Your patience will pay off!
WHEN WILL YOU BE BACK?
As part of the renovation process, we will schedule a Renovation Seeding Check-Up a few weeks after the work is completed. This visit allows us to monitor germination.
HOW OFTEN WILL MY LAWN NEED RENOVATION?
We recommend this process every 2-5 years.
